Within live training environments, precise positioning of all personnel in the exercise is paramount to the ability to integrate new technologies for direct and indirect fire and support after-action review. With precise positioning – both indoors and out – achieving the goal of enhanced training realism and anytime, anywhere training becomes a reality.
While many live training systems use GNSS tracking outdoors, it’s often not reliable in dense canopy and around buildings, is completely unavailable in sub-terranean areas, and does not support accurate indoor/outdoor transition. Indoor training facilities cannot use GNSS for location data and often rely on expensive infrastructure – including networked ultra-wideband and camera systems.
